Thanks to a generous commitment from CEFLURGEM - the largest organization of North American Daime churches - as well as several individuals - the monthly costs to maintain this website are now covered.
This is a blessing I never expected and was not really prepared for. I am working to set something up so that those who wish
to support the site may do so. In the meanwhile, I encourage you to donate to a cause that feels good.
In the meantime, please consider one of the opportunities on the right.
Donation Request: Estrela Brilhante Church Renovation
Mestre Raimundo Irineu Serra was born in the state of Maranhão in northeastern Brazil. Daniel Arcelino Serra, Mestre’s nephew, moved from Maranhão to Acre in the late 1950s, becoming Mestre’s only biological family member to enter the doctrine. He lived in the Alto Santo community for decades (and was Padrinho Luiz Mendes’ neighbor). In 2001, after visiting his home state and discovering it to be the only Brazilian state without a Santo Daime church, Daniel was visited by Mestre in a dream. Mestre instructed Daniel to move back to Maranhão to start a Daime church. In 2008, after years of work, Padrinho Daniel Serra founded the Estrela Brilhante church (CICEBRIS) in São Luís, Maranhão’s capital. Padrinho Daniel made his passage on Oct 19, 2011. Today, his widow (Madrinha Otilia), daughter, three grandchildren and the Estrela Brilhante community continue to uphold Mestre’s instruction.
Estrela Brilhante is currently preparing for major renovations to the church. Estrela Brilhante receives very little financial support from abroad, and Maranhão is among the poorest of Brazilian states. If you would like to make a donation, please reach out to Chris (203.856.2153). Any amount helps, but those who donate above $35 will receive their choice of an Estrela Brilhante t-shirt or hat by mail.
Viva o Padrinho Daniel Serra! Viva a Estrela Brilhante!
